Spectre & Meltdown Vulnerabilities Update
Find the latest firmware updates, security patches and alternative product recommendations in response to the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities.
Lantronix is aware of the Spectre and Meltdown vulnerabilities that were recently announced. These vulnerabilities impact the confidentiality of data running on Intel, AMD and ARM processors.
For Lantronix hardware products, we do not use Intel or AMD processors, and as a consequence the “Meltdown” vulnerability does not affect Lantronix hardware products.
For the Spectre vulnerability, the only impacted product is the SLC 8000, as all other Lantronix products do not use the impacted ARM cores described on ARM’s website. The ARM Cortex A9 processor (or “The processor”) in the SLC 8000 is on ARM’s vulnerability list. To exploit any of these vulnerabilities, an attacker must be able to run crafted code on an affected device. Although the underlying CPU and operating system combination in SLC 8000 product may be affected by these vulnerabilities, this product line is a closed system that does not allow customers, or other third parties to run custom code and is, therefore, not vulnerable. There is no vector to exploit them.
